Technical Abouts/Blog Rules

If you (the reader) are anything like I am, you probably have a hard time navigating blogs and figuring out how the widgets work. This post isn't Phantom related, but I think it's needed to have a post that explains some of the workings of the blog.

The Polls: Depending on how popular they become, I plan on changing the polls every week. I tested them out, and you don't need a Google account (or any other account, for that matter) to participate in them. Only one submission per person.

Followers: I have put two options for following my blog. One is the standard "Follow" option that Google offers. However, in order to use that function, you have to have a Google account. I understand that not everyone wants to have/already has a Google account, but I still wanted them to be able to follow my blog; so I've added the "follow by email" option. It's really simple: type your email address into the box, click the submit button, and then do the spam check that will open in a different window. An email will be sent to that account, and you have to click on the link in that email in order to activate the subscription. It should work after that!

"Phantom Phorums": If you scroll down to the bottom of the blog, one of the widgets down there allows you to ask a question, and will allow other people to answer. I've put a question down about how I can improve my blog; you should just be able to type in a comment and post it without being signed in to any Google account.

Mobile Viewers: Because people are becoming more technologically advanced, it is not uncommon that people do most or all of their Internet browsing using a mobile device (i.e Android phone, iPod Touch). For this reason, I have installed the blog so that when you view the blog on a mobile device, it automatically detects this and switched the site to the mobile version. I tested this using my iPod Touch, and it works perfectly for me. Please let me know if you have a problem viewing it on a non-Apple mobile device.

Rules and Tips on The Philer's Blog

1. While I don't have the comment moderator on, I have all rights to delete any spam comments, inappropriate, or otherwise offensive comments. I will not, however, edit any comments.

2. I don't believe in moderating/editing out/filtering swear words, because every person is different. However, I will not tolerate any swearing or cursing directly pointed towards another blog visitor.

3. Phantom of the Opera covers a lot of dark and sometimes disturbing topics, so I will warn you now that some posts/articles might contain NC-17/Rated M material. You have been warned.

4. While it isn't absolutely necessary to have a Google account in order to use the blog, I highly suggest using one; it will be easier to access and follow the blog, as well as give you complete access to all of the blog's features.

5. As I am a newbie/amateur blogger, I'm using a free blog hosting website (Blogger). Because of this, I do not have control over any ads that may show up on the site. In the future, I plan on permanently transferring the blog to its own site with its own domain; until then, please make do with any Google Ads that might show up. I cannot control, and do not take responsibility for them.

6. It is my dream/goal to one day make blogging my career. Because of this, I am eager to make a little money by putting my creativity, time, and effort into this blog. In the future, I plan on installing a program which will allow you, the reader, to make any donations to the blog. I will write about this at a future time, but it's just a heads up --I am into this not only for the personal pleasure I get from writing, but also for supporting myself.

7. Don't hesitate to contact me if you find a problem on the blog. As it is a new site, it will be undergoing a lot of changes constantly. Please stick with me on this. If you have a problem, question, comment, or suggestion, please email me at: thephantomphiles@gmail.com.

8. As a way to get readers involved (and to gain more traffic to my blog), I am offering for other Phantom Phans to write articles/blog posts for the blog. If you are interested in any way (this could look good on a resume/transcript, and is a good way to practice your writing skills and letting the world see them!), you can email me at: thephantomphiles@gmail.com.

9. I do have the right to moderate and edit any articles written by other posters, for use of swear/curse words, inappropriate content, and invalid information. This is done to protect the reputation of myself and the blog. However, that is the only reason things will be edited/moderated;

10. In response to #9, you have my word that I will not change, edit, or moderate any article/blog post posted by another merely because I disagree with what was said, or because I have a personal problem with the poster.
